HOW THIS ALL BEGAN…
Many years ago, scattered across the vastness of the Interwebs, a small group of video game aficionados ran into each other while playing Bungie’s hit game Halo. To envision this correctly you need to understand that it was like a terrible car accident. Through the twisted carnage, fire and blood is was amazing that everyone survived however the aftermath was these individuals standing around staring at each other wondering just who was at fault for this mayhem. Following the initial meeting, what would start as a few people who began to play video games together would forge itself into friendships that would span nearly a decade and mold itself into something much more important and influential than any of them knew at the time.

HALO 2 AND THE BIRTH OF A LEGION…
The small group of gamers really began to grow right around the time Bungie’s follow-up title was released (Halo 2) and the ability to play games together over the old school XBOX started to become commonplace. Exploring the maps, exploiting the bug and glitches and making everyone else’s gaming experience with us a complete nightmare gifted us with hours upon hours of laughs and raw entertainment. What we did not notice at the time was that our teamwork was building and was becoming something to be reckoned with as the countless hours spent on Halo 2 racked up and showed no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Soon websites started popping up where teams could pit their skills against each other for bragging rights and the idea of forming our own branded group started flourishing in our heads. The seeds of what would become one of the most exclusive gaming groups on XBOX Live had started to grow. Little did we know what kind of adventure we were in store for.

LEGION OF THE APOCALYPSE…
Named after a Florida based hacker group from a dubious past that we will not get into, we branded our gaming group “Legion of the Apocalypse” and started toting the letters “LOA” in front of our online nicknames. What started as simply giving a name to our group of dedicated gaming junkies transformed into playing video games competitively while using our state of the art website to document our achievements and losses while luring in potential new members to our fold. As they say, if you build it they will come, and come they did! To date, no other gaming group’s website used and deployed the interactive elements ours did and no group went out of their way to make their voice heard as much as the LOA’s did. Influencing the way other websites showcased their players, matches and broadcast their news it was not long before companies like Major League Gaming were reaching out to the LOA for feedback on adding certain games to their competitive roster. With the good always comes the bad and it would not long before the jealousy of other gaming groups started to raise their ugly heads. Never ones to back off in the face of adversity, the LOA would forge ahead with its plans to be bigger and better than any other gaming community of the internet. Meeting up at live gaming events helped to build the friendships beyond the online realm and transform them into bonds that still hold strong to this day.

THE END OF AN ERA…
After spending years gaming under the LOA brand, our numbers had grown higher than expected yet our goals had been tainted with the obsession of playing competitively. What had started out as a fun adventure had turned into serious work and began going down paths that many members of the LOA were not comfortable with. In time the LOA contracted a cancer that could only be eradicated by doing what everyone feared the most… closing our doors and calling it quits. In hindsight this decision would prove to be one of our best. A few years would pass with the core members of the LOA retaining their friendships before any discussion would come about to resurrect the monster we all helped to create. But in time, the sleeping lion would awake… hungry… and ready to take a new bite out of the video gaming world.

THE GAMERS PULSE!
The former core members of the LOA never stopped gaming with each other, visiting each other & having some great times. While playing a particular game one day the discussion started about wanting a website that was as funny, informative & entertaining as our gameplay had always been. The light went off in our heads and the suggestion was made to give life into our little monster again. We knew we needed a new name, a new focus and the dedication to keep in as fun as things had been in the past before becoming clouded by outside influences. We wanted to give the straight scoop on games, remain unbiased and further help the gaming community by sharing our views and strengths to better educate gamers on how they should spend their hard-earned money and valuable time. Keep it entertaining, keep it simple and most importantly have fun. But what would we call it? We must have gone through several dozen name ideas but none of them sounded good or seemed to express what we wanted to accomplish. What could we call something that would let gamers know that their friends and companions in the world of online gaming had their fingers on the pulse of what was going on? Right then it hit us. The Gamers Pulse! And that my friends is what brings us to this chapter in this never-ending story.
