THQ and Random House have announced that they’ll be releasing an original prologue novel to coincide with the launch of Darksiders II. The story will begin a millenia before War accidentally brought about the Apocalypse in the first Darksiders game. How you say womp wah.
The Name of the novel is Darksiders: The Abomination Vault, written by Ari Marmell. Haven’t read any of his stuff yet, but he has written books set in the Magic: The Gathering series. The Abomination Vault sees the Four Horsemen taking a break from maintaining the balance between heaven and hell and turn their attention to a plot to resurrect “ancient weapons of unimaginable power”.
Death and his fellow horseman War must hunt down the shady accomplices behind this diabolical plot before the entire universe is plunged into a devastating conflict. Can you say apocalypse? Random House Group’s intellectual property creation and development team Random House Worlds, will also be helping THQ in developing the IP bible for the Darksiders franchise.
The only thing I hate about prequels is you can almost always guess what’s going to happen seeing as you know what happens later. Darksiders II and the novel, are out in May 2012.
